From 1.8m to 16m: How Should We Understand the Satellite Ground Antenna Product Series?

In satellite communication projects, the ground segment is responsible for receiving and transmitting signals. Applications such as radio and television, energy, and emergency services each have their own operational arrangements, and the antenna size, frequency band, and operation mode therefore need to be determined according to the project. SATA provides a satellite ground station antenna series covering 1.8 m to 16 m, which allows customers to select products based on actual requirements and to discuss specific configurations with us.

Size and Frequency Band Form the Basis of the Series

Our antennas are available in multiple sizes, extending from 1.8 m to 16 m. When customers present project requirements, they usually already have some basic conditions in hand, such as the type of station planned for construction, the required operating frequency band, or a preliminary antenna size under consideration. Based on these conditions, we can identify the specifications to be discussed from the series and continue to refine the configuration.

The antenna frequency band covers L, C, Ku, Ka, Q/V, and others. Size and frequency band together form the basis of product selection, but a specific project also involves arrangements such as the feed system and the turntable. Therefore, when we discuss products, we link the customer's operational requirements with these options and gradually form a configuration suitable for the project. The specific configuration for each size is subject to the solution confirmed by both parties.

This series also provides product options for various ground station projects. We have delivered antennas of different sizes for fixed stations, gateway stations, terminal stations, and calibration stations. The tasks undertaken by a station affect the project requirements, and our work is to understand these requirements and translate the antenna size and available configurations into the specific project.

Configuration Choices Serve Actual Use

Once the size and frequency band are determined, the feed system is one item that needs to be discussed. SATA can provide linear polarization or circular polarization feed systems. For the turntable drive form, customers can choose manual or electric according to their needs. How the antenna is planned to be operated and which feed system form is required can both be raised during the solution stage, and we will continue the discussion based on the product options.

Taking our 4.5 m product as an example, this antenna can be configured with a manual or motorized turntable, offers frequency band options from L to Q/V, and comes with specific technical parameters for the C band and Ku band. It is easy to install and can be reinstalled. This information presents the complete outline of a specific product from configuration to use. When customers need other sizes, we will likewise confirm the corresponding solution around the target specifications.

For satellite ground antennas planned for long-term use, we also pay attention to the structural protection of the equipment. The pedestal and fasteners of the product adopt anti-mold, anti-moisture, and anti-salt spray treatment, and the series product is marked with a 15-year service life. Customers can explain the installation site and operating conditions to us, so that the product configuration, on-site arrangements, and subsequent maintenance requirements can be communicated at the early stage of the project.

Project Experience and Product Delivery

The series products have entered different types of ground station projects. Among them, we completed the design and construction of a 13 m Ka band satellite ground station antenna, and we also customized a 6.2 m antenna for an Italian company. The two projects involved their own sizes and requirements, and they present our work experience in ground station construction and antenna customization.

Once the product is determined, the project still needs to move into packaging, transportation, and installation. SATA can provide customized packaging, and its logistics service covers more than 100 regions and countries across five continents. In terms of technical support, we can provide customers with installation, commissioning, and maintenance support, as well as installation guidance and remote technical support. Communicating in advance about the delivery location and on-site arrangements helps us confirm the specific form of cooperation.

What supports this work is our research and development, production, and supply chain system. SATA has professional production and development capabilities, and has obtained certifications such as the ISO 9001 quality management system and the ISO 14001 environmental management system. From product configuration to delivery support, we hope that customers can find a clear point of contact at every stage of the project.

If you are planning a satellite communication project, you are welcome to contact SATA and tell us the required size, frequency band, mode of use, and delivery location. You may also reach us by email at info@satgroundapplication.com. We will discuss the configuration and support arrangements for the satellite ground antenna based on your project requirements and assist you in selecting the product you need.
